Voice your support for Rule 24!

Posted about 2 years ago by Anne Brown

To all members and followers of ARAPA,

The public hearing for the proposed changes to Rule 24 of the Medical Practice Act will occur next week at the Arkansas State Medical Board. This is the next step in finalizing the changes we passed with Act 651 last year. The proposed changes will add a PA to the Medical Board, allow PAs to prescribe all schedule II medications (with certain restrictions), allow PAs to call time of death, allow PAs to respond to natural disasters, and update and modernize language regarding PAs in the Medical Practice Act. A full draft of the proposed changes can be found here: Rule 24 Markup and Proposed Changes.

The public comment period, which allows the public to respond to these changes, will end at 4:30pm on March 22, 2022. A live hearing will be held at the Arkansas State Medical Board from 9am - 11am on Tuesday, March 22. Information on the public hearing can be found here. I encourage each of you to email or write to the medical board prior to this hearing, expressing your support for these changes. All written comments may be sent to Arkansas State Medical Board, 1401 W. Capitol, Suite 340, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72201 or to PublicHearingComments@armedicalboard.org. If you are able to attend the hearing to show your support, we would love to have you with us. We expect the changes will be approved without difficulty, but it certainly helps to show that these changes are supported by PAs throughout Arkansas.

Sincerely,

Anne Brown, PA-C
