Today was the Leadership Advocacy Summit virtual Capitol Hill meetings directly by AAPA.

Arkansas was represented by PAs Ann Brown, Ashley Bell and Tara Bruner. We had 4 scheduled virtual meetings with the offices of Congressman French Hill, Congressman Steve Womack, Senator Tom Cotton and Senator Boozman.

Our asks were co-sponsorship of 2 bills. Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act SB 800 to allow PAs to write for diabetic shoes for Medicaid, and Increasing Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Care Act allowing PAs to oversee this treatment. This has passed into law but not in effect until 2024, our ask is to co-sponsor re-introducing this bill to expedite PAs delivering this care in 2022.
Pictured is our visit as Senator Boozman and his aids called into our meeting. We had a good dialogue and Senator Boozman stated he supported the PAs in Arkansas.
