Heroes Against Hunger Fundraiser Results

Posted over 3 years ago

On October 3rd, 2020, the UAMS Physician Assistant Program hosted its 7th Annual Heroes Against Hunger 5K benefitting the Arkansas Food Bank. Due to COVID-19, the event was held in a virtual format for the first time ever! The runners were given a week to run the race on their own course and post their times to the race website. All participants were encouraged to post pictures of their own personal experiences with #HeroesAgainstHunger on the social media event page. Congratulations to our top three runners: Bailey Fithian (PA-S1), Hannah Breau (PA-S2), and Ashley McCrary (PA-C, faculty)!

Ultimately, the students of the PA Program were able to raise over $10,000 in donations to the Arkansas Food Bank, specifically the Feed Arkansas Kids Program! These funds are more important than ever this year due to increased utilization of the Food Bank by all those affected by COVID. Thank you to all who helped feed Arkansas children in need.

The PA program is proud of the students for stepping up their efforts this year to overcome the many challenges of planning a virtual event and fundraising in a time of financial strain for many individuals and businesses. Despite the many obstacles they faced, they were able to maintain the success of this important annual event. Overcoming this challenge speaks to the great providers they will all one day be.
